PURPOSEUnder the direction of the Principal, the Assistant Principal serves as a middle school educational leader and assists in the planning, coordination, and direction of programs and activities related to the administration of Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship.
JOB QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Education required. Master's Degree preferred.
Knowledge of the PA Board of Education School Code Provisions regarding discipline and attendance
Pennsylvania Principal PK-12 Certification
Three (3) years in an educational leadership position (i.e. principal, vice-principal, and or curriculum leader) in a school environment

School Operations and Leadership
Assist the principal with the planning, coordination, and administration of school activities and programs
Manage school operations in the absence of the Principal
Support the instructional team by providing coaching and developing and training teachers through observation, modeling, analyzing data, and co-teaching
Provides feedback and input to annual performance reviews of instructional staff
Collaborate and clearly communicate with families and School staff
Assist the Principal in developing and enforcing systems of accountability for students
Coordinate classroom coverages with substitute teachers and internal staff
Coordinate transportation services
Assist with hiring and recruiting efforts for the School
Partner with the Director of Operations to ensure the safety and welfare of students and staff in the PHCSE building
Support and encourage the building vision for PHCSE through visibility and presence
Student Discipline and Positive Behavior Incentives
Develop positive, mutually respectful relationships with parents and students while collaborating with the Dean of Students in developing and executing an effective discipline policy
Oversee the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, with follow-up and student/parent contact when necessary
Responsible for the administration, coordination, and evaluation of the restorative practices and disciplinary program at Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship.
Oversee detention and disciplinary suspensions
Provide oversight for the administration of discipline for students who receive bus referrals
Direct and conduct parent/teacher conferences related to student discipline
Support instructional staff by assisting with classroom management, partnering with teachers and student support staff to identify students with disciplinary issues, and addressing those issues with parents to promote positive outcomes
Provide strategic leadership by establishing restorative practice plans that are aligned with the organization's strategic goals and core values.
Partner with the Dean of Students in ensuring that PHCSE maintains an effective and up-to-date professional development program on restorative practices and crisis prevention
Guide students in maintaining a high standard of conduct; model positive character and habits.
Assist the Principal in establishing a fair and consistent attendance system that is aligned with PHCSE's mission, vision, and values.
Ensure that disciplinary reporting is completed in a timely manner.
Direct peer mediation program to resolve student conflicts
Meetings & Professional Development
Demonstrate commitment to professional growth through participation in professional learning communities, networking, and professional development opportunities
Attend community events and meetings as assigned by Principal
Attends team meetings to develop goals for student outcomes
Participate in and support the development of district-wide professional development and committees as appropriate
Develop and maintains positive relationships with parents, community members, and other stakeholders

WORKING CONDITIONThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Primarily assigned to an office environment that is climate and noise controlled with adequate lighting, using standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, printers.
