Immediate Need for a Benefits Consultant with a pharmaceutical company.
Hybrid role in Waltham, MA
6 month contract only.
Required Skills:
8 years of relevant benefits admin exp
proficiency in excel
experience working with HRIS and wellness programs (nice to haves)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for administration and compliance for health and welfare benefit programs
- Ensures compliance with governmental regulations related to benefit programs and labor law, including ERISA and HIPAA and required states notices. Stays up to date on existing laws and updated requirements.
- Responsible for execution of compliance-related activities such as health and welfare 5500 filing, Affordable Care Act reporting, required Internal Revenue Code testing for health and welfare plans, managing tax implications for benefits, etc.
- Oversees benefits and wellness-related communications and initiatives.
- Serves as primary contact for employees for complex benefit issues.
- Interprets benefits policies for employees and provides guidance as appropriate.
· Primary contact for plan providers; ensures efficient administration of benefit plans.
- Responsible for accurate management of employee life cycle for benefits (new hire, life events, open enrollment, termination), etc.
- As needed, manages benefits portion of new employee orientation, including development and delivery of content.
- Responsible for overall employee benefits support (ensures process in place to provide timely employee support).
- Oversees benefits invoicing and self-billing; ensures accuracy and timely payment.
- Manages additional government filings, plan audits, or other tax-reporting requirements as assigned.
- Responsible for management of the Oracle Benefits Module, including ensuring accuracy for all events, changes, upgrades and integrations.
- Maintains a strong cross-functional partnership with Payroll, HRIS, HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, HR Partners, Legal and IT.
- Ensures proper day to day administration of benefit changes and enrollments are processed by HR and Payroll.
- As needed, prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- As needed, supports other HR key events such as mid-year/ year-end performance, and compensation cycles and updates benefits module.
- Develops training materials and process documentation for benefit transactions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
- 8-10 years of progressive benefits administration experience preferred
- Significant experience with HR systems; Oracle HRMS experience preferred
- Advanced Excel (PivotTables, V-Lookups) and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with ability to explain processes and policies effectively
- Experience partnering with internal communications team and delivering content across various communication modes
- Strong working knowledge and experience with benefits regulations and compliance requirements (e.g. HIPAA, ERISA, ACA, required annual filings, non-discrimination testing), federal and state laws
- Detail oriented with excellent follow-up skills and high level of accuracy
- Must be able to set priorities and juggle several tasks within a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with a positive attitude
- Able to work cross functionally with all departments
- Ability to demonstrate both functional and technical aptitude
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- The successful individual will be able to alter priorities in a continually changing environment, the ability to communicate those changes and bring issues to a quick and solid resolution
- Good judgment in resolving issues, the ability to maintain confidential information, the ability to work independently to achieve results, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required
