Supervisor, Production

Scope of Position: Managing daily manufacturing operations, leading and training production staff, monitoring production schedules, and ensuring quality standards and safety protocols are met. Key responsibilities include optimizing workflow, troubleshooting issues, tracking metrics, maintaining equipment, and reporting to upper management on performance and efficiency.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises staff in the Production department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading improvement efforts, continually developing employees, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understands and implements ECI's values of customer intimacy and quality, and communicates them to the rest of the production department.
- Supervising daily department production activity and meeting all production schedules implemented by Teamwork and/or Production Director.
- Understanding all aspects of each project and communicating this with the rest of the production team.
- Keeps time entries up to date for production personnel.
- Serves as the first point of contact for the Production Director and makes sure proper job procedures are followed on each project.
- Schedules material and subcontractor delivery dates.
- Works with the production team to resolve fabrication issues across construction, subcontractors, materials, and lead times.
- Coordinates prep labor with prep team leaders.
- Coordinates blueprint production with the detailing department and the fabrication team leads.
- Coordinates CNC programming with the production & estimating departments.
- Coordinates with the graphics department to ensure graphics completion meets every project schedule (actual graphic production handled by the graphics department).
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Education and/or Experience:
- One-year certificate from college or technical school, and seven (7) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in woodworking, cabinet manufacturing, or a related field.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery, processes, and finishing techniques. (Required)
- Proficiency with production planning and inventory management software.
- A solid understanding of health and safety regulations.
Requirements
General Skills:
- Computer Skills - Should have knowledge of Windows 11 or greater, familiarity with Microsoft 365, and familiarity with using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Forklift driving requirement (ECI certification).
- Limited travel for training as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- People Leadership: Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of production workers involved in tasks like machine operation, assembly, and finishing. Motivate staff and provide training on job duties and safety procedures.
- Production Planning: Create and review production schedules, set targets, and manage daily activities to meet delivery dates.
- Quality Control: Monitor production processes to ensure products meet quality specifications, adjust machines as needed, and resolve quality issues; recommend improvements to increase product quality.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all health and safety regulations and company policies are followed. This includes addressing unsafe conditions and promoting a safe work environment.
- Materials and Inventory: Monitor the flow of incoming materials, in-process goods, and finished products. Requisition materials and supplies and manage inventory levels to prevent production interruptions.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve work problems and collaborate with other departments to troubleshoot issues and improve productivity.
- Reporting: Prepare production reports and provide performance updates to management.
Working Condition / Physical Demands:
- Manufacturing or warehouse environment; exposure to machinery, noise, and moving equipment.
- May require working extended hours, weekends, or different shifts to meet production goals.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. A forklift will be used to move anything over 75 lbs. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
