The Park Rapids High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Long Term Substitute High School English Teacher to join our team at Park Rapids High School. This full-time position offers an opportunity to engage with students in a dynamic learning environment, fostering their love for literature and developing their writing skills. The ideal candidate will be committed to creating an inclusive classroom that supports diverse learning needs and encourages critical thinking.

Salary and benefits will be prorated based on the number of contract days remaining in the school year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and the school curriculum.
  • Teach a variety of English courses, including literature, composition, and language arts, to high school students;

Public speaking

Pre-college 11th grade (two periods of this class 2nd and 3rd trimester)

Basic English 9/10

  • Assess student performance through assignments, tests, and projects, providing timely feedback and support for improvement.
  • Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student participation and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members and staff to support students' academic and social development.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in school meetings, professional development opportunities, and other related activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other necessary documentation.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the varying needs and interests of students.
  • Uphold school policies and procedures while fostering a respectful and safe learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching license or certification in English Language Arts for high school level.
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably at the high school level, is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of English language, literature, and writing techniques.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
