Park Rapids School District/Century School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Media Assistant to join our team at Century School in the Media Center. This full-time position will support the media program by assisting students and staff in accessing and utilizing various media resources effectively. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education and a strong understanding of digital media, technology, and library services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily operations of the media center, including circulation, inventory management, and organization of resources.
  • Support students and staff in locating and utilizing media materials, including books, digital resources, and audiovisual equipment.
  • Help develop and implement engaging media programs and activities that promote literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship.
  • Maintain an organized and welcoming media center environment, ensuring resources are accessible and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate media resources into classroom instruction and support curriculum needs.
  • Provide basic technical support for media equipment and software, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
  • Assist in the promotion of library events, programs, and new resources through various communication channels.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with trends in media and technology in education.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the media specialist or school administration.

Required.

  • High School Diploma required. Associates degree desired.
  • Media/Secretarial experience preferred. Must pass a secretarial skills test using Microsoft Word/Excel.
  • Experience working in a school environment or library setting is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of digital media tools, library systems, and educational technology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology and educational practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with library management software.
  • A passion for promoting literacy and a love for learning among students.
  • Must pass background checks as required by school district policies.
