Hanson Consulting Group is seeking an experienced UX Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the gaming industry As a UX Engineer, you'll be part of an innovative group that sits at the intersection of Design and Engineering.

The individual in this role must be located in Costa Rica and willing to work Pacific Time hours to align with our client and team.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between design and engineering by building polished, user-friendly front-end experiences while collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and stakeholders. You will play a key role in shaping the user experience of our products and contributing to internal design systems, tools, and best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable front-end components and experiences.
  • Translate design concepts from Figma or other design tools into functional UI components.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, escalating issues and blockers as needed.
  • Follow front-end development best practices, including accessibility, performance, and responsive design.
  • Advocate for users through thoughtful UX decisions and attention to detail.
  • Contribute to internal design systems, reusable components, and shared libraries.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Secondary education degree (Bachiller Universitario or Licenciado) OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Graphic Design, Product Design, Visual Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field AND 2+ years of experience in product or user design
  • 8-10 years of professional front-end development experience with languages such as CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React or Angular
  • Solid understanding of UI/UX best practices and human-centered design principles (required)
  • Understanding of secure coding practices and common security vulnerabilities is a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate ideas clearly
  • Comfort with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and iterative development processes
  • Portfolio (GitHub, Behance, personal website, or similar) demonstrating relevant work is encouraged
  • Familiarity with front-end fundamentals: accessibility, performance, responsive design
  • Experience with design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
  • Interest in internal design systems, and design-to-code automation
