Job Description

The School of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Temporary Data Analyst to join their team. (20 hours per week. The pay range is $3,125 - $3,416 per month.)

The Temporary Data Analyst provides a variety of operational reports for the School of Medicine. This role will be tasked with understanding and completing reporting requests based on provided requirements for stakeholders including medical students, faculty leaders (block/thread/theme/clerkship directors, College heads, etc.), and deans and staff in Academic Affairs and Rural & Regional Affairs.

This position requires a functional understanding of best practices in data querying, documentation, and security to ensure quality and security of reports. You must have the ability to effectively communicate amongst direct leadership, other team members, partner departments, and UW School of Medicine staff and students.

The Data Analyst directly contributes to the ability of medical students, faculty, and administrators to apply educational data to the improvement of student and institutional outcomes. The position is responsible for meeting operations needs for improved integration and presentation of educational data.

This position is expected to last through January 9, though may be extended depending on business needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting Request and Data Services:

  • Utilize SQL and Excel to produce reports and analyze the results, providing insight to stakeholders.
  • Respond to ongoing ad hoc reporting requests, including summary documentation on sources used and definitions applied to included fields.
  • Work closely with Data Services team to understand information needs and objectives, provide solutions, and suggest actionable data in a resource-efficient manner.

Data Services Unit Support:

  • Track, assign and escalate support tickets to the appropriate team member.
  • Track data issues in auditing tools and resolve issues. Escalate more complex issues to appropriate team member to establish next steps.

Data Qualify Testing and Other Duties:

  • Review data sets for accuracy, completeness, uniqueness, and quality.
  • Test data for discrepancies between Development and Test Environments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in any field.
  • At least two years of experience as a business analyst, reporting analyst, or other data analysis-related work.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience in SQL and Excel
  • Knowledge of data structures and ability to efficiently manipulate/query data.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with an ability to bring enthusiasm and energy to a collaborative team environment.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in the social sciences, math, statistics, or other information technology related field or certification in data or business analytics.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$75,000.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$81,996.00 annual
