Special Education Substitute Teacher

*Short and long-term substitute teaching assignments available in K-5 and 6th-12th grade campuses in Irving, Fort Worth, and Arlington.

The Special Education Substitute Teacher will:

  • Provide educational services to students with disabilities
  • Assist in planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating appropriate individualized educational services, learning programs, and instruction across the inclusion, resource, and LID instructional settings.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A valid, current Special Education Teaching Certification
  • 1 year of successful Special Education teaching experience in a K-12 school (preferred)

Special Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of curriculum, instruction
  • Special Education documentation/data collection
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of current Special Education practices and methodologies

  • Through consultation and various instructional settings, the Special Education team provides essential support, following an Individualized Education Plan, to ensure each student is served in the least restrictive environment possible.

HIRING PROCESS

Substitute teachers are hired on a rolling basis as substitution needs arise due to maternity leave, unexpected illness, etc. Our recruitment committee reviews all applications and will contact qualified candidates to discuss the details of assignments/openings as substitute needs arise.
