Founded in 1971, Centers for New Horizons, Inc. (Centers) is a nonprofit organization that assists children, youth, and families to become self-reliant. With 100+ full-time staff, most of whom live in or near its service communities, Centers provides programs in seven locations throughout the Bronzeville and Riverdale communities of Chicago's Southside that reach over 1,000 individuals daily.
Position Description
The Site Director is responsible for the overall management and operations of Centers for New Horizons childcare facilities. This includes but is not limited to supervising all childcare staff, volunteers, and partners. The Site Director responsibilities include ensuring high-quality care for children, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.
The Site Director will plan, develop, and evaluate all Head Start content areas, including, but not limited to, health, family engagement, and ERSEA, as required by the Head Start Performance Standards including the program's day to day operation.
This position will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

Essential Functions
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Recruit, train, and supervise childcare staff and volunteers.
- Responsible for conducting regular performance evaluations and providing ongoing training and professional development.
- Promote teamwork and maintain a positive, supportive work environment
- Implements curriculum and coordinated coaching strategies within classrooms, ensures review and analysis of education, disabilities, and mental health data to inform planning, and supports the referral and inclusion of children with suspected and/or diagnosed disabilities.
- Ensure that the care being provided meets all exceeds the emotional, physical, and educational needs of each child.
- Monitor children's behavior and work closely with staff to address any issues and/or concerns.
- Create an inviting environment that promotes respect and diversity.
- Maintain Compliance with local and state regulations with regards to health, safety, and the welfare of children.
- Oversee emergency protocols and ensure staff is properly trained.
- Responsible for addressing any concerns and making necessary adjustments to ensure the wellbeing of children.
- Establish strong relationships with parents and the community.
- Organize and facilitate parentteacher meetings and provide resources for parents and child development.
- Responsible for responding to parent inquiries and providing feedback in a professional and timely manner.
- Manage the Early Childhood Education budgets, ensuring appropriate allocations and resources.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and other important documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements.
- Create reports for executive director and licensing agencies as needed.
- Regularly evaluate the quality of the childcare program and make necessary improvements as needed.
- Stay up to date on early childhood education trends and implement best practices.
- Assist with marketing efforts to increase enrollment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree, in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. Master's (Preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with Head Start
- Gateway Director's Credential Preferred
- ECE/IT Credential Preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the Head Start Performance Standards (HSPS), Department of Children and Family Services Licensing Standards (DCFS) & Chicago Early Learning Standards (CELS).
- Familiar with CSD cares
- Staff supervision experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective problemsolving skills
Salary:
Compensation is commensurate based on experience, skills, education, and training. Salary range $70,000 - $80,000.
