Job Description:
The Software Test Analyst 5 position will work as a contract resource for our Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supporting the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). This resource will be a part of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Accounts Receivable and Collections (MDHHS ARC) Project. The resource will act as a software test analyst, with duties including designing and executing manual and automated test cases, generating and documenting test plans and strategies, generating testing reports and metrics, API testing, and ADA Compliance testing.
Must Have senior level (5+ years) experience and proficiency in the following:
· 5+ years experience analyzing requirements, user stories (in Azure DevOps), and acceptance criteria to design effective, reusable test cases (including positive, negative, and boundary testing).
· Testing & Quality Assurance Skills -
o Designing and executing manual and automated test cases - 5+ years' experience
o Understanding of software testing methodologies and quality assurance processes (Quality Assurance, User Acceptance, System Integration, Accessibility, Performance, Regression, Post Deployment Validation, Data Conversion).
o Generating and documenting test plans and strategies.
o Generating testing reports and metrics.
o Generating and acquiring test data.
o ADA Compliance testing tools, such as AccVerify, JAWS, etc.
o API testing and tools like Postman, Rest Client, and others.
o Build environments {DEV, UAT, QAT, PRE-PROD} specific test suites with integrated application life cycle management.
o Ability to analyze requirements, user stories (in Azure DevOps), and acceptance criteria to design effective, reusable test cases (including positive, negative, and boundary testing).
o Experience in identifying, documenting, and tracking bugs clearly and concisely in a tool like Azure DevOps.
o Performance and load testing with tools like JMeter or LoadRunner
· Automation & Technical Skills -
o Proven experience writing clean, maintainable, and object-oriented Java code for test automation.
o Demonstrable experience automating web applications using frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar.
o Writing clear and effective Gherkin scenarios (Given/When/Then).
o Implementing Step Definitions in Java.
o Writing SQL and P-SQL queries.
o Ability to write and execute SQL queries (SELECTs, JOINs) for test data setup and validation against Oracle and/or SQL Server databases.
o Proficiency in using Git for version control (merging, pull requests) as part of a team.
· Agile & Collaboration -
o Experience working as an active participant in an Agile/Scrum team and its ceremonies.
o Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and design test cases.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
o Strong skills in communicating test results, bugs, and risks to developers, BAs, and other stakeholders.
· Security & Compliance -
o Understanding of the secure application development lifecycle (SADLC).
· Soft Skills & Other Requirements -
o Strong written and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to work in person in downtown Lansing 2 days a week.
Nice to Have:
· Experience using Azure DevOps Testing Module.
· Experience with Mobile App testing of iOS and Android applications.
· Experience automating web applications using the Playwright for Java library.
· Experience using Eclipse as a primary development environment.
· A background in Selenium WebDriver, which provides a strong foundation for understanding the strategies and nuances of browser automation.
· Experience with the TestNG framework. (This remains valuable since your framework uses it for test running and its skipping logic).
· Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
· Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or API Request Context.
