Job Summary:
The Product Actuary will lead the design, pricing, and profitability analysis of new and existing MYGA and FIA with living benefit guarantees. This role partners closely with marketing, sales, finance, and risk teams to ensure products are both competitive and financially sound. Ideal candidates will bring strong technical modeling skills, regulatory awareness, and strategic insight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead product development initiatives from ideation through implementation, including:
- Concept validation and competitive analysis
- Pricing model development and scenario testing
- Assumption setting and justification
- Profitability testing (statutory, GAAP, tax)
- Collaborate with distribution teams and legal to design innovative, marketable and customer-centric products
- Prepare actuarial memoranda, rate filings, and support responses to regulators and auditors
- Maintain and enhance pricing models in SLOPE and other modeling platforms (Excel and Python)
- Support reinsurance pricing and negotiations when applicable
- Ensure product compliance with actuarial standards, regulations (e.g., VM-22), and internal guidelines
- Monitor product performance and recommend inforce management strategies
Required Qualifications:
- FSA or near-FSA with strong product experience
- 5+ years of actuarial experience, with a focus on product design and pricing
- Expertise in annuity product lines
- Hands-on experience with actuarial modeling tools or custom Python/Excel-based tools
- Solid understanding of valuation frameworks, capital requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-actuaries
- Strong business acumen and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pricing of MYGA and fixed indexed annuities (FIAs)
- Experience with GLWB, GMDB, or other living/guaranteed benefit riders
- Familiarity with VM-21, VM-22, and C3 Phase II
- Working knowledge of hedging programs and ALM concepts
- Experience in product filing process and supporting regulatory discussions
- Exposure to sales illustrations, competitive intelligence tools, or inforce repricing
