Systems Administrator

Responsibilities:

As a Systems Administrator with Sabre Systems, Inc. you will be supporting the Airborne Acoustic Signal Processing (AASP) team that's integrating software into one of the Navy's most technologically sophisticated aircraft platforms, the P-8A. This is a full time, on-site role located at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Patuxent River, Maryland. The position involves system administration tasking for the management of computer systems and networks, including:

• Operating system maintenance – Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL), Windows 10/11
• Cyber security updates and scans
• Software license management
• System upgrades (could be hardware or software)

Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems in classified and controlled unclassified environments
• Troubleshoot systems primarily in a Linux environment and secondarily in a Windows environment.
• Install, configure, and manage the Linux operating systems and related tool sets supporting the software engineers in the Acoustic (SSA) Software Support Activity/AASP Lab
• Keeping servers "compliant" per NAVAIR and DISA policies to include backup and disaster recovery requirements, anti-virus protection, and implementing system security.
• Maintain backup plans and rotation cycles.
• Producing documentation that details and describes the systems, procedures, events, and any associated processes.
• Building new infrastructure servers.
• Maintaining, tuning, and patching systems for optimum performance and security. Migrating or upgrading systems, where applicable.
• Participating in weekly routine maintenance tasks.
• Responding to system failures promptly to bring applications back online.
• Conducting various quarterly and annual Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and scans on systems in the AASP labs

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of practical experience executing tasks such as:
• Configuring hardware (e.g., servers and switches)
• Upgrading and repairing computer systems
• Troubleshooting hardware and software issues
• Implementing security measures and basic testing
• Experience with installing, patching, and troubleshooting systems primarily in a Linux environment
• An active DoD Top Secret Clearance is highly desired, but the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance is required.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Desired Qualifications:

• Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in the Computer Science/Information Technology discipline (degrees in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, network engineering, information systems, cyber security, or management of information systems technology)
• Experience in DoD Information Assurance/Cyber policy and procedures to include hardening of systems, implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and scanning desired.
• Experience with Linux Server to include the build, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as addressing, service requests, routine sever maintenance (firmware, failures, hardening, etc.), and server consolidation
• Experience with Linux: Ubuntu and/or Red Hat
• Experience with Windows
• Experience with virtualization of systems and VMware
• Critical thinking skills and the ability to "think-outside-the-box" to solve complex technical issues is essential.
• Certified in one or more of the following:
• CompTIA A+
• CompTIA Network+
• CompTIA Security+
• CompTIA Linux+
• Cisco CCNA
• Cisco CCNP
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

Compensation:

At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements. The general salary range for this position is $75,000-$100,000; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms.
