The services provided by the Student Affairs Office include: Counseling on non-academic matters (including issues of inclusive learning environments, stress reduction, academic performance, time management, and other personal matters). Coordinating Orientation, Family & Friends Day, and Pro Bono & Student Life Awards, Programming, and support on matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Sponsoring programs that promote health and wellness. The Career Development Office supports students in three key areas: job search, career education and professional development, and recruiting and networking opportunities.

Your Role on the Team

Uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of a small to mid-sized academic or nonacademic department or organizational unit with limited scope. Reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, provides a full range of professional services related to career placement and student support, including support to the Assistant Dean
of Career Development. the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, The Student Life Program Manager, four Assistant Directors of Career Development, and the Employer Relations & Recruitment Manager.

Performs short and long-term planning for the organization. Manages confidential and sensitive administrative issues, analyzes processes, and presents options to implement effective change. Independently manages a variety of projects as assigned. Gathers data from a variety of sources, analyzes, and evaluates data, and prepares detailed summaries. Oversees administrative support to the Career Development Office and
Student Affairs Office including complex calendaring, travel arrangements, reimbursement and finance processes, and online content maintenance. May supervise student worker(s).

What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
  • Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to set and adjust priorities based on assignments and an acquired understanding of the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and poise in dealing with diverse constituencies including, among others, current and prospective students to the School of Law, alumni, legal employers, faculty, and administrative personnel.
  • Skill and experience in coordinating special events
  • Demonstrated experience in the advanced features of standard computer software products such as the Law School' s calendaring program, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, or their equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • 3-5 years working in an academic environment.


Preferred:

  • Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and / or personnel management.
  • Masters degree in higher education or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working in a law school and in career services and/or student affairs.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $77,000- $80,000 (Annual).
