Construction Superintendent/Project Manager

We are seeking Construction Superintendents to join our team on a contract basis.
This position is open to contact personnel and consultants capable of providing expert level oversight of primarily civil/sitework projects in Central and South Florida.
We are not hiring W2 employees for these positions at this time, so please do not apply unless you are willing and able to work on a contract basis Pay will be commensurate.
The ideal candidate will currently be part of an existing construction network Florida. You will have relationships with personnel working at local General Contractors, Developers, suppliers, and other trades.
Virtus Support Services, , provides management and back-office support for our clients in the construction trades. We need formally educated and experienced construction managers that understand the entire construction process to work as advocates and managers for our clients.
This position includes the opportunity for lucrative commissions for driving client growth.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for on-site leadership, scheduling, coordination, and supervision of all construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. This role is the primary field representative and works closely with project management, subcontractors, inspectors, and stakeholders to drive efficient execution and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution, Scheduling & Coordination
- Oversee all on-site construction operations and maintain a productive daily work environment
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules, including three-week look-aheads, critical path monitoring, and milestone tracking
- Coordinate labor, equipment, and material deliveries to support prioritized workflow and project phasing
- Ensure timely execution of work by supervising crews and aligning resources with schedule goals
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals; communicate field requirements and resolve conflicts
Subcontractor & Workforce Management
- Lead and manage subcontractor performance, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and quality expectations
- Conduct subcontractor coordination and planning meetings to review progress, logistics, and sequencing
- Manage site workforce activities, monitor productivity, and enforce contract requirements
- Identify trade conflicts, workforce shortages, or delays and coordinate solutions with project leadership
Quality Control & Compliance
- Enforce construction standards and verify work complies with contract documents, codes, and industry best practices
- Conduct quality inspections, generate punch lists, and ensure timely corrective actions
- Support permitting and inspection processes; coordinate with local agencies and third-party inspectors
Safety & Risk Management
- Enforce company safety policies, project-specific safety plans, and OSHA standards
- Lead daily safety meetings, document compliance, and respond to incidents appropriately
- Identify hazards and implement corrective measures to maintain a safe site
Communication & Reporting
- Serve as the on-site communication hub for owners, project managers, subcontractors, and inspectors
- Provide daily field reports, schedule updates, progress documentation, and site photos
- Maintain detailed daily logs of labor, deliveries, equipment, inspections, and field events
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required; technical or construction-related degree preferred
- 5+ years of progressive onsite construction supervision experience
- Experience directly managing project schedules and coordinating multiple subcontractor trades
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and critical path scheduling
- Proficiency with construction scheduling and project management software
- Ability to read plans, interpret specifications, and resolve field issues
Certifications (Preferred)
- OSHA 30-Hour
- First Aid/CPR
- Industry-recognized superintendent or trade certification (if applicable)
