Position Overview

We're seeking a Freelance WordPress Web Designer/Developer to assist our team with website maintenance, client updates, and project-based development. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple projects while remaining responsive during the business day.

You'll handle day-to-day client support tasks while also contributing to larger development projects that typically span 3 to 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily WordPress (some Drupal) maintenance and client updates, including plugin adjustments, content changes, and layout refinements.
  • Support new WordPress website builds, custom themes, and front-end design.
  • Implement responsive, mobile-friendly, and accessible (WCAG 2.1 compliant) designs.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues, plugin conflicts, and performance concerns.
  • Collaborate with project managers and designers during business hours to meet client deadlines.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with WordPress (themes, plugins, and builders such as Gutenberg, Divi, or Elementor).
  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive web design principles.
  • Excellent communication and reliability during 8 AM–6 PM CST.
  • Ability to manage multiple small requests while balancing ongoing project work.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with basic PHP, JavaScript/jQuery, and SEO optimization.
  • Experience working with agencies or multi-client environments.
  • Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and website security best practices.

Eligibility Requirement

Due to the nature of the clients we support, candidates must be eligible to work on projects that require U.S. citizenship.

  • Contract Type: Freelance / 1099 (Independent Contractor)

Availability: Must be reachable during core hours (8 AM–6 PM CST) for client coordination and support.
