Position Summary

The District Manager provides strategic direction and leadership to a team of Unit Mangers within an assigned geographic area. The DM will be responsible for providing the vision necessary to create world class operations by hiring and developing great people and ensuring systems and procedures are implemented properly and executed flawlessly at the unit level. The position accomplishes this through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by Quest's Mission, Vision, and Values.

District Manager Responsibilities

  • Cascades the vision of the organization to all accounts and account personnel, ensuring the vision, values and founding principles are effectively communicated, understood and practiced. Demonstrates commitment to Quest's vision, values, and founding principles through actions on a daily basis .
  • Drives the achievement of operating goals, profitability, and sustainability.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and management to Unit Leadership and hourly team members within the assigned district.
  • Fosters a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
  • Represents Quest with clients, customers, and business partners consistent with our Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Supports the development of leadership talent. Builds a pipeline of management candidates to support Quest's growth and sustainability.
  • Ensures unit-level operating budgets are in place and met through a system of planning and control procedures; participates in budget and forecast process as needed.
  • Implements and maintains standards of quality for all areas of the dining services/hospitality operation; assists in the development and on-going analysis of each account's dining services/hospitality quality plan.
  • Ensures systems are in place to train and develop all Unit Level leadership and hourly team members.
  • Ensures that all areas of the dining services operations are in compliance with Quest's health and safety standards, as well as state and local health codes.
  • Ensures all company and account purchasing policies and procedures are in effect; that, through correct menu planning, receiving, and storage, maximum utilization of company resources is attained; quality specifications are adhered to.
  • Provides hands-on support as needed.
  • Stasy abreast of the competition by performing quarterly market analysis and consistent research of menu trends.
  • Educates clients with regular meetings and transparent, accountable relationship management efforts.
  • Collaborates continually with Quest's Business Develop team to identify prospects, meet with interested stakeholders, and proactively position Quest to expand in the assigned geographic territory.
  • Performs other duties as required

District Manager Requirements

  • For External hire, minimum of five to seven years of multi-account management as District Manager or above.
  • For Internal hire, minimum of 6 months (24 months preferred) as a Unit Leader or above with Quest FMS, must be in good company standing and have a proven track record of performance
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Extensive experience in the food service industry including a vast knowledge of establishing client relations and maintaining long term client relationships
  • Exemplary leadership skills
  • Expertise in P&L impact and accounting practices
  • Possess excellent training and development skills and extensive opening experience of new accounts (Requires presentation skills where revenue generating ideas and/or menu tastings are presented and discussed)
  • Experience with cost controls, sanitation and safety is required
  • Strong communication and client management skills
  • Solid knowledge of financials
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Responsible for meeting and maintaining state and local certification requirements (Food Service Manager)
  • Ability to travel across state lines via automobile and or air as necessary to support out of state client accounts or participate in sales site surveys, etc.
