Are you a seasoned Cost Estimator ready to make an impact on one of the most transformative infrastructure & transit programs in the country?

Cost Estimator – Infrastructure & Transit Projects Seattle, WA | Full-Time

GEMS is seeking a detail-driven Cost Estimator to support the financial planning and delivery of complex infrastructure projects across our expanding transit network. This role is critical to ensuring cost transparency, accuracy, and strategic alignment throughout the project lifecycle. Major projects include Light rail, Trains, and Bus rapid transit.

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare pre-design cost estimates based on scope and project type
  • Develop construction cost estimates from drawings, outlines, and specifications across a variety of project types
  • Review and evaluate contractor and consultant cost proposals
  • Negotiate change orders and support procurement processes
  • Lead and mentor a team of estimators on complex assignments

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Cost modeling and forecasting
  • Risk-based estimating and value engineering
  • Coordination with design, engineering, and construction teams
  • Documentation and presentation of estimate packages for internal and external stakeholders

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years of cost estimating experience on large-scale projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field
  • Licensed Engineer (WA Board of Engineers preferred)
  • Certified Cost Estimator preferred
  • PMP or equivalent certifications are a plus
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
