Accountant - Accounts Payable

Position Overview:
This Accountant role focuses on Accounts Payable (AP). Working as part of a close-knit
team, the AP Accountant plays a key role in managing the full lifecycle of the accounts
payable process, from purchase order creation to statement reconciliation by ensuring
that vendors and subcontractors are paid accurately and on time and job costs are
coded correctly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Intake and process information from multiple departments to create purchase
orders. - Accurately process and code a high volume of invoices and receipts related to
construction jobs, subcontractors, materials, and services. - Match invoices to purchase orders, delivery tickets, and job cost codes using
construction-specific ERP or accounting systems. - Prepare disbursement report for Controller, ensuring timely and accurate
payments. - Maintain the accounts payable ledger, including aging reports and vendor
reconciliations. - Communicate with vendors to resolve discrepancies, missing documents, or
payment issues. - Collaborate with project managers and field personnel to validate charges and
resolve job-related invoice issues. - Assist with monthly close by preparing AP-related accruals and reports.
- Support year-end activities including 1099 report preparation and audit
documentation. - Help maintain proper documentation and adherence to internal controls and
company policies. - Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent work
experience). - 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes, including vendor and
subcontractor management. - Experience with construction accounting software (QuickBooks, Procore).
Familiarity with job cost accounting. - Working knowledge of W-9 and 1099 compliance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general office applications.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team
environment.
The position reports into the Controller.
