DescriptionGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Manages the operations of the agency through the maintenance and renovation needs of the Department and facilities. Ensures that the security, space, and equipment needs of citizens and staff are provided for in a safe, clean, and efficient environment through contact and coordination with vendors, city and other county departments, and outside agencies.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
An employee in this class serves as a liaison between the Department of Social Services and the Facilities Department. Handle the day-day complaints or reports from staff concerning equipment and other relevant matters. Resolve issues by developing work orders, e-mail, or phone call to other county departments, outside vendors, and agencies. Ensures that CB07's and CB02's are completed with accuracy to request renovations and repairs, ground and building cleaning and maintenance. Ensures funds are available for office equipment repairs maintenance agreements and telephone equipment purchases.

Essential Duties and Tasks
- Handle day to day complaints or reports from staff concerning facility equipment, janitorial supplies, lights fixtures, machines, i.e. cell phones, etc.
- Coordinating requests for building security.
- Perform administrative duties such as assisting with monthly DSS Board reports.
- Handle emergency situations that arise pertaining to warranty items handled through the Property Management Department/Administrative Services, where floor plans are reviewed to refer maintenance personnel to proper locations in the building.
- Indirectly supervise a Sr. Office Specialist and an Office Specialist.
- Periodically move boxes, tables, and chairs when needed.

- Knowledge of state space requirements and special project needs.
- Knowledge of county Financial Reporting System class code and object cost code structure.
- Knowledge of state safety requirements as they relate to Mdse.'s and OSHA.
- Understanding of the telephone system and cell phone operations.
- Understanding of Guilford County Purchasing, Finance, and Budgeting policies and procedures as they relate to specific duties of the position.
- Ability to utilize various office software programs.
- Ability to use county Mainframe Supported software-online purchasing, e-mail, and Client Information system.
- Ability to organize workflow and coordinate department activities.
- Ability to interpret, understand and apply Guilford County policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgement.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally or in written form.
Minimum Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent with three years of experience in facility maintenance or related field OR, a demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks.
Residency Requirement
Candidate must reside within a two-hour driving radius of Guilford County to be considered for employment.
May Require Driving
This position may require driving for this position whether driving a County owned or personal vehicle to conduct county business such as but not limited to attending conferences, meetings, or any other county related functions. Motor Vehicle Reports may be verified for valid driver's license and that the driving record is compatible with the county's driving criteria.
If a personal vehicle is operated for county business proper insurance is maintained as per Guilford County's vehicle use policy.
