The Debt Collections Specialist is responsible for managing overdue accounts, contacting customers to collect outstanding payments, and negotiating repayment plans while maintaining positive customer relationships. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of billing and credit procedures. Your expertise in medical billing, accounts receivable, and financial concepts will be essential in ensuring timely collections while maintaining excellent customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact customers via phone, email, or mail to collect overdue payments.
  • Negotiate repayment or settlement plans in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain detailed records of all collection activities within financial software and accounting software platforms, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Monitor and follow up on payment commitments to ensure compliance.
  • Escalate unresolved cases to management or legal departments as necessary.
  • Work closely with the billing and finance teams to reconcile accounts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations (e.g., FDCPA).
  • Provide excellent customer service to maintain company reputation and client satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in collections, accounts receivable, or customer service is a plus
  • Knowledge of debt collection laws and best practices (FDCPA compliance).
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain professional and empathetic under pressure.
