As a Surety Contract Underwriter, you'll be part of a team that ranks among the nation's top underwriters of contractors' performance and payment bonds, miscellaneous surety, and commercial fidelity. You'll help maintain Old Republic Surety Company's reputation for excellence by assessing risk, nurturing agency relationships, and ensuring profitability—all while enjoying the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with two remote workdays each week.

Duties

In this Surety Contract Underwriter role, you'll underwrite bonds within your authority and make informed recommendations that help meet company profitability and loss ratio goals. You'll collaborate closely with agency partners to strengthen marketing efforts and provide efficient, effective underwriting services. Staying current with industry trends, economic shifts, and competitive underwriting practices will help you position both yourself and Old Republic Surety Company as leaders in the marketplace.

As a trusted Surety Contract Underwriter, you'll also play a mentoring role, assisting in the coaching and development of Associate Underwriters and Underwriting Assistants to ensure a seamless experience for our agents and clients. Your analytical skills, sound judgment, and relationship-building abilities will help drive continued success for our growing team.

Experience

To be successful as a Surety Contract Underwriter, you'll bring a bachelor's degree and at least one year of related underwriting experience. You should have a solid understanding of financial analysis, risk evaluation, and relationship management. Most importantly, you'll bring curiosity, integrity, and a proactive mindset—qualities that align with the values at the heart of Old Republic Surety Company.
