Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care, ensuring patient comfort, and assisting the dentist during various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Prepare and maintain the dental operatory, ensuring all instruments are sterilized and organized according to infection control protocols.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety standards and HIPAA regulations.
  • Document patient medical histories and maintain accurate medical records in compliance with legal standards.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed, including answering phones and handling patient inquiries.
  • Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for patient documentation and charting.
  • Monitor vital signs and assist in pediatric dentistry procedures when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of dental anatomy, medical terminology, and various specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.

Skills

  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Experience with chairside assisting techniques and familiarity with 3D scanners is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and anatomy is essential.
  • Ability to perform medical imaging tasks accurately while ensuring patient comfort.
  • Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is highly desirable, particularly in pediatrics or pediatric dentistry.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
