WEALTH & TRUST OFFICER
SUMMARY
Manage the trust department and its personnel. Oversee a trust and investment portfolio and provide service to current and prospective clients. Responsible for the development and retention of personal and corporate trust business with the objectives of profit for the Bank and quality service to customers. Prepare reports for the Board of Directors, the trust committee and accounting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform full range of supervisory/managerial duties of the trust department including complete adherence to all policies and practices of the Bank and its applicable regulatory and governmental agencies.
Assist in establishing the overall direction of the Trust Department by implementing the Bank's objectives and defining the means for their attainment.
Contact potential customers to sell trust and investment management services; prepare and present proposals; conduct seminars and speak to target audiences about trust products and service.
Administer various trust accounts as provided under the governing instrument in accordance with Bank policy, established practice approved procedures and legal constraints; maintain proper documentation; assist clients with a variety of requests.
Prepare initial trust abstract and annually review trust accounts; contact trust customers to review investment performance; gather relevant data, counsel and advise clients regarding estate planning; assist clients with transferring assets to trust accounts.
Monitor investments for trust accounts including the purchase, sale, and retention of assets (e.g., cash, stocks, bonds, other securities, real estate, mineral interests, etc.); monitor cash position; prepare asset allocation data.
Review trust documents to ensure they are accurate and complete with all applicable legal requirements; prepare and submit bids to profitably manage funds.
Assist with the bank's pension and profit-sharing plans; work with bank staff and external legal counsel regarding issues relating to these employee benefit plans.
Conduct annual inspections of all commercial properties and tri-annual inspections of residential properties; prepares written reports detailing the inspections; conduct safe deposit searches necessary to retrieve wills upon death of owner.
Gather data for accountants regarding trust client's tax returns; review completed tax forms and signs.
Assist Trust Officers as needed.
Assist with establishing market sales goals and hold regular meetings with all sales representatives.
Participate in the Bank's business development activities. Represent the Bank in industry and professional associations, community organizations, local business groups, etc. and promote the Bank's favorable image.
Comply with all banking regulations, policies and procedures.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences, and workshops and involvement in professional, civic, and community groups in leadership positions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises assigned employees and performs administrative duties associated with staff management (e.g., trains employees, delegates work and ensures the completion of same, prepares and publishes work schedule, reviews and approves timesheets, coaches and counsels employees, prepares performance evaluations and conducts evaluation meetings, conducts staff meetings, makes salary and promotional recommendations, participates in recruitment, interview, and hiring process, administers progressive discipline, takes action regarding departmental activities and staff, approves/disapproves requests for leave time, notifies employees of mandatory training and bank meetings). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Possess a four-year college degree from an accredited university or institution with a major area of study in business administration, finance, or comparable discipline. Law degree or PhD is preferred. Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) certificate preferred.
Possess a minimum of ten years of professional work experience in trust administration, investment services, or the practice of law. Preference may be given to individuals who have work experience in trust law.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability to operate PC and printer, copy and fax machines and telephone. Must have good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Advanced PC knowledge.
KEY CONTACTS--Internal and External
Has frequent contact with business leaders, accounting and legal professionals to promote Trust Department and bank products and services.
Has occasional contact with brokerage firms. Has occasional contact with industry, trade and community groups regarding current business activities, opportunities and problems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license. Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA) certificate preferred.

COMMENTS
Position may require occasional overnight travel to attend various training sessions. Position requires the ability to work before or after normal business hours to attend various meetings and meet with clients.
