Outreach Case Manager/Counselor

The Outreach Counselor/ Case Manager is part of InterAct's Personal and Economic Empowerment Program (PEEPS), which provides case management, advocacy, and support services to adult survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This position delivers direct services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking at designated community outreach sites, including Oak City Cares and other partner agencies.
The Outreach Case Manager must be an exceptional advocate who shares InterAct's commitment to client-centered, trauma-informed care, and consistently upholds the agency's core values of respect, empowerment, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Client Services
- Provide direct outreach and case management services at Oak City Cares and other designated partner sites.
- Conduct follow-up with clients referred through domestic violence police incident reports (non–high-risk cases).
- Assist clients with safety planning, Domestic Violence Protection Orders, 50-C orders, and Legal Aid referrals.
- Provide education on domestic and sexual violence, legal resources, and referrals to appropriate community services.
- Support clients in developing and achieving short- and long-term goals related to housing, education, and economic stability.
- Inform clients about Rapid Rehousing eligibility and assist with housing search and supportive services to promote self-sufficiency and community integration.
- Maintain an empowering and professional relationship with clients to support their progress and independence.
Collaboration & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with InterAct staff and community partners to ensure coordinated and continuous support for clients.
- Attend and participate in community partner meetings (in-person and/or virtual).
- Conduct presentations, trainings, and tabling events to raise awareness of InterAct's services.
- Assist with volunteer and intern training as needed.
Administrative & Program Support
- Enter all client data into the Empower database accurately and promptly, consistent with agency policy.
- Participate in scheduled case reviews, providing client updates to the supervisor.
- Maintain and update a list of community resources, counseling materials, and legal information.
- Complete all onboarding and shadowing requirements within the first 90 days of employment.
- Participate in after-hours, holiday, and on-call crisis line rotations, as well as walk-in and LAP shifts as assigned.
- Provide court advocacy, hospital/Solace Center, and shelter support as needed.
- Attend team meetings, staff meetings, trainings, retreats, and in-service sessions.
- Complete at least 20 hours of continuing education annually, in compliance with Council for Women requirements (July 1–June 30).
Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations.
Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Education, Legal Studies, or other Human Services field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in a crisis intervention or related setting, preferably with victims of domestic or sexual violence.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of community resources and services
- Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer proficiency
- Other Requirements:
- Reliable transportation and clear driving record
- Satisfactory background check to InterAct's standards.
- Fluency in Spanish (spoken and written) are encouraged to apply.
