Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event planning and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors, particularly those with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory care needs. This role requires creativity, compassion, and excellent communication skills to foster an engaging environment for our residents.

Duties

  • Develop, implement, and oversee recreational programs tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
  • Plan and coordinate events that promote social interaction, physical activity, and cognitive engagement.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure activities are aligned with individual care plans and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
  • Conduct assessments to identify residents' interests and needs related to aging issues and memory care.
  • Maintain schedule management for all activities, ensuring optimal participation from residents.
  • Engage with families and caregivers to provide updates on activities and encourage their involvement.
  • Document participation levels and feedback to continuously improve programming.
  • Train staff on best practices for facilitating activities that support residents' well-being.

Requirements

  • Experience in event planning or recreational therapy is highly desirable.
  • Background in assisted living, nursing home experience, or long-term care is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and senior care practices.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities is a plus.
  • Ability to provide aging issues counseling as needed.
  • A background in social work or caregiving is beneficial.
