Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pathology Assistant to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, with a focus on pediatric care. This role involves assisting pathologists in the preparation and examination of tissue specimens, ensuring accurate diagnosis and treatment plans for patients. The Pathology Assistant will work closely with healthcare professionals to support patient care and contribute to a collaborative medical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist pathologists in the preparation of tissue specimens for examination.
  • Conduct gross examinations of surgical specimens, documenting findings accurately.
  • Maintain detailed records of specimen processing and results.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper handling and storage of specimens.
  • Utilize medical terminology effectively in communication with team members.
  • Support pediatric patients by understanding their unique needs and experiences.
  • Participate in early intervention programs and assist with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as necessary.
  • Stay current on best practices in pathology and related fields, including speech therapy and acute care.

Experience

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology is essential.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in a pediatric setting, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to pathology and patient care.
  • Experience in early intervention strategies or speech therapy is a plus.
  • A background in acute care environments will be beneficial for this role.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team focused on student success.
