We are looking for a Volunteer Manager to join our team to further expand our community support and coordinate our volunteers across different departments.

Works in Cooperation with: Construction Department, Homeownership Department, ReStore
Location: Office, and ReStore in Wappingers Falls, construction and repair sites in Dutchess and Putnam counties, NY
Job Summary: The Volunteer Manager is responsible for recruiting, training, coordinating, and celebrating volunteers. This is a public-facing position that will build relationships in the community to grow the overall volunteer base and advance individual and group partnerships. The Volunteer Manger will develop and engage in community events to recruit new volunteers and ensure opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity. They will assist with all aspects of volunteer management, including initial orientation, database maintenance and tracking, training and support, coordination, and promoting volunteer opportunities as they arise. They will spend significant time on construction sites, in the ReStore, and at community gatherings.
Essential Functions (E):
- Recruit and schedule volunteers through marketing materials, community outreach, and tabling at events for support to the following areas:
- Construction sites, including team builds, new builds, and repairs;
- Office, including Homeownership support and general office support;
- ReStore, our retail location close to our office, open 6 days per week; and,
- Special events and expos.
- Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of databases, volunteer tracking, and follow-up.
- Work with construction staff members to ensure successful volunteer build days, including scheduling team build days, managing Volunteer Hub postings and signups, waivers, volunteer retention, recognition, and hospitality (including certificates, meals, and on-site photos).
- Work with ReStore staff members to ensure successful volunteer experience at the ReStore including training, partnering new volunteers with mentors, periodic check-ins with volunteers, retention, recognition, and hospitality.
- Manage and implement volunteer newsletter.
- Represent Habitat at community events and speaking engagements (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, local clubs, and schools).
- Cultivate and retain volunteer sources, including corporate teams, schools, faith-based organizations, retirees, and special needs groups. Work closely with staff and leadership to integrate volunteer programs across the organization.
- Collaborate with marketing partner to create targeted materials for volunteer recruitment and engagement.
- Embrace and share Habitat's mission and values with volunteers and the community.
Requirements:
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree required; alternatively, a volunteer management certificate or over three years of relevant employment experience working with volunteers.
- Experience volunteering with non-profit organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, proficient in public speaking and outreach, and effective network skills.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people of all abilities.
- Experience with database technology, Microsoft 365, social media, and design tools such as Canva. Must be willing and able to adopt new technologies and software programs.
- Ability to lift, bend, stoop, move, stand lift up to 25 pounds using proper PPE, more than 25 pounds with tools and/or another person. Activities may include, but are not limited to, carrying items for tabling events, setting up tables, chairs and decorations at events, carrying giveaway items and print materials for events, and carrying items on construction sites to set up for volunteers.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, position for an average 20 hours per week, predominantly spread out through Tuesday-Saturday. Early mornings or evenings may be required for special events.
Hourly Rate: $ per hour.
