Founding Engineer

Our client, an AI-driven technology company, is building the AI Watchtower for global supply chains, starting with the food sector — a $1T+ industry underserved by modern software.

They are seeking a Founding Engineer to architect core AI agent systems, make critical technical decisions, and build the engineering team and culture from the ground up.

This role offers the chance to shape foundational systems that automate complex supply chain processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs across a multi-trillion-dollar market. This is a hands-on position for a high-caliber builder who thrives in hypergrowth, early-stage environments and wants to have a defining impact on a rapidly scaling company.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and deploy production-grade AI agents and workflow automation systems
• Scale ML models and LLM orchestration pipelines for real-time, enterprise deployments
• Integrate systems with legacy ERPs and other operational platforms
• Own end-to-end projects that are both technically demanding and strategically critical
• Collaborate closely with the founding team to define technical architecture, standards, and engineering culture
• Engage directly with clients, warehouses, and distribution operations to gain insight and empathy for real-world workflows
• Mentor and help build a high-performance engineering team as the company scales

Ideal Experience & Background

• 2–5 years of professional experience, primarily in early-stage hypergrowth startups (Seed to Series B)
• Experience building production-grade AI systems, ML models in production, or large-scale workflow automation
• Proficiency in Python and core data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn)
• Proficiency in for frontend development
• Experience with AWS or cloud-native infrastructure, GPU optimization, and LLM orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex)
• Previous founder experience or exceptional extracurricular achievements is highly desirable
• Strong communication skills, transparent feedback, and a competitive, high-drive mindset
• Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco
