Job Summary

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with intellectual disability, assisted living environments. This position involves assisting clients with daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their overall well-being. The DSP will work closely with clients to enhance their quality of life while fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to individuals in daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
  • Assist clients with mobility and transportation needs, including driving to appointments or social activities.
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique requirements and preferences.
  • Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor client behavior and report any changes or concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and interactions within established systems.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive support for clients.
  • Uphold the dignity and respect of each client while promoting their independence.

Skills

  • Strong background in direct support roles or caregiving within senior care settings.
  • Experience in memory care or assisted living environments is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of social work principles or nursing home operations is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
  • Ability to drive safely and responsibly when transporting clients as needed.
  • Proficient in using systems for documentation and reporting purposes.
  • Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others achieve their best quality of life.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $ $14.00 per hour
