Resource Energy was founded in 2007 with the mission of assisting commercial real estate owners with their energy needs. Resource Energy began expanding its services over the years to other large energy users with a focus on simplifying energy procurement, tenant utility billing, and other energy management services. Today, Resource Energy operates in 48 states with a team of approximately 60 energy analysts, software engineers and other energy professionals The company services nearly one billion square feet of commercial energy load, providing a diverse portfolio of properties and companies with creative and highly customized solutions to their energy needs.
The Senior Energy Markets Analyst leads a team of Energy Markets Analysts in supporting multiple clients with comprehensive energy procurement services. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing client strategies, supervising the execution of energy procurement operations, and ensuring the successful delivery of analytical and consultative services across deregulated markets in North America.
In addition to managing day-to-day analyst activities, the Senior Energy Markets Analyst serves as the primary point of contact for key client relationships, provides strategic market insights, and drives operational excellence within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of Energy Markets Analysts, ensuring high-quality execution of procurement strategies and deliverables
- Oversee the coordination and management of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process across all deregulated electricity and natural gas markets in North America
- Supervise research efforts related to utility account data and market intelligence
- Review and ensure accuracy of analyst reports, including updates to clients on supply pricing, market fundamentals, and RFP outcomes
- Manage and enhance client relationships, ensuring timely communication, strategic recommendations, and satisfaction with services
- Oversee the structuring and negotiation of client energy supply contracts, providing final review and risk assessment
- Utilize wholesale platforms to monitor market movements and identify energy procurement opportunities for clients
- Guide analysts in forecasting and reporting on supply and distribution cost trends, as well as performance tracking for existing client strategies
- Monitor electricity and natural gas market developments, including regulatory and legislative changes, and communicate their implications to both internal teams and clients
- Review and interpret ISO and utility-related charges, ensuring clients receive accurate and actionable insights
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement best practices, process improvements, and team performance standards
Qualifications:
- AA/BS in Finance, Energy, Mathematics, Economics, or a similarly analytical discipline
- years of relevant experience in the energy industry, including energy procurement, RFP management, or utility/market analysis
- Prior team leadership or management experience preferred
- Strong analytical background with knowledge of energy market fundamentals and commodity pricing structures
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; experience with statistical software preferred
- Demonstrated project management skills with strong attention to detail, organization, and deadline execution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience interfacing with clients and executives
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to drive team success and client value
