Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Accounts Receivable professional to join our finance team. This role involves managing financial records, maintaining accurate accounts receivable data, and supporting overall accounting functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various accounting software and a solid understanding of financial concepts, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial health of our organization, whether in a corporate, non-profit, or governmental setting.

Duties

  • Manage and record accounts receivable transactions, ensuring timely billing and collections
  • Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records
  • Prepare journal entries and process accounts payable transactions
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including balance sheet reconciliation
  • Maintain and update financial data using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or other relevant tools
  • Support payroll processing and tax-related activities as needed
  • Generate financial reports and assist in account analysis for management review
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards including GAAP and governmental regulations
  • Conduct account reconciliation to verify accuracy of account balances and transactions
  • Perform budgeting tasks and assist with financial report writing for internal or external stakeholders

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, general ledger accounting, and GAAP standards
  • Experience with bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation
  • Knowledge of accounts receivable/payable processes and payroll management
  • Ability to perform journal entries accurately and efficiently
  • Familiarity with governmental accounting practices and tax experience is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks such as 10 key typing and account analysis simultaneously
  • Strong analytical skills for account analysis and financial concept application
  • Effective communication skills for financial report writing and documentation purposes
