Position Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting both clinical and administrative operations at ICNTX. This position is cross-trained to work in both the front and back office, ensuring a seamless flow of patient care and front-desk efficiency. The MA will rotate between clinical and administrative duties as needed to maintain smooth day-to-day operations, deliver exceptional patient experiences, and uphold the highest standards of compliance and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers with patient care.
- Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, chief complaints, and medical history in the EMR.
- Perform lab draws, specimen collection, and handling in accordance with CLIA and OSHA standards.
- Ensure all charts are prepped accurately prior to visits, including verifying medications, allergies, and necessary documentation.
- Assist with procedures, injections, and patient education as directed by the provider.
- Maintain clean and organized clinical areas; restock supplies and monitor inventory levels.
- Manage outgoing and incoming faxes related to clinical operations (labs, referrals, imaging, etc.).
Front Office Responsibilities:
- Greet and check in/out patients in a professional, courteous manner.
- Verify insurance, collect copays, and ensure completion of necessary forms.
- Handle referrals and authorizations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Answer phones, respond to messages, and schedule appointments appropriately.
- Assist with scanning, uploading, and filing documentation in the EMR.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and clinic policies at all times.
General Duties:
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff.
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training sessions.
- Ensure accurate, complete documentation for every patient encounter.
- Support quality assurance, infection control, and compliance initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required.
- If no certification then we would require Phlebotomy cert.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems
- Excellent communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Professional demeanor, reliability, and strong attention to detail.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position; schedule varies based on clinic needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $20.00 per hour
