Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or hospitals, and possess a strong understanding of patient care and medication administration. This role involves working closely with residents, particularly those with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and other memory care needs. The Medication Technician will ensure the safe and effective administration of medications while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.

Duties

  • Administer medications to residents as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Monitor residents for side effects and effectiveness of medications.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation using EMR/EHR systems.
  • Assist in the development of individualized care plans for residents.
  • Provide personal care support including vital signs monitoring, tube feeding, catheter care, and general caregiving tasks.
  • Ensure a safe environment for residents by adhering to safety protocols and infection control measures.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, families, and residents regarding medication management and patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in medication administration and patient care.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home, or hospital settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and vital signs is essential.
  • Familiarity with medication administration protocols including tube feeding and catheter care.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in memory care settings is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for medical documentation.
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
