Responsibilities
We are seeking a seasoned Managing Director to lead our Tech teams overseeing Business Systems and Applications, reporting to the CTO. The successful candidate will be responsible for owning Oaktree's critical enterprise platforms, developing and executing the long-term business systems strategy, and delivering measurable business value.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in enterprise business systems, integration architecture, and system governance, with a proven track record in financial services or asset management. They will be able to partner with executive stakeholders to design systems that streamline workflows and enhance user outcomes, while ensuring governance, compliance, and risk management.
- Own and evolve the Business Systems portfolio (Workday, Salesforce, Geneva/GWI, Tax, Treasury, Compliance, and related enterprise platforms)
- Develop and execute a forward-looking business systems strategy that balances vended solutions, in-house extensions, and integration with Oaktree's broader data and AI platform vision
- Partner with product managers, finance, HR, tax, treasury, legal, and operations leaders to design systems that streamline workflows and enhance user outcomes
- Oversee vendor and implementation oversight including solution evaluation, architecture review, and ensuring scalability, security, and cost effectiveness
- Champion integration and interoperability across business systems, leveraging APIs, middleware, and event-driven approaches
- Embed analytics and AI enablement into business platforms to improve decision-making and efficiency
- Ensure governance, compliance, and risk management are built into system design and operations
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team that combines vendor management, systems administration, engineering, and business analysis
- Manage system integrations and ensure data quality across HR, client, deal, and fund data domains
- Work with data teams overseeing Master data management (MDM) and governance knowledge to ensure consistency across critical data domains.
- Data and analytics fluency: working knowledge of modern data platforms, data lineage, and enabling downstream AI/analytics use cases. The teams under this leadership will work closely with the data platform teams that oversee see functions.
- Collaborate with executive stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable, tech-forward solutions
- Develop and manage budget and resource plans for the Business Applications team
Qualifications
- 18+ years of experience in financial services or asset management, with a focus on enterprise business systems and integration architecture
- Deep expertise in Workday HCM/Finance, Salesforce CRM, Geneva fund accounting, GWI, tax/treasury solutions
- Strong integration architecture skills: designing service-layer and API-first integrations, middleware/orchestration, and secure data flows
- Modern development lifecycle understanding: Agile/DevOps delivery, CI/CD, low-code/no-code extensions
- Security and compliance awareness: experience embedding controls in business system implementations
- Vendor management and SaaS oversight: strong capability to evaluate, negotiate, and govern vended solutions
- Leadership and collaboration: proven ability to influence at executive levels and translate business needs into scalable, tech-forward solutions
- Experience with cloud-based ecosystems and cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure SQL Database, Azure Fabric, and Azure Lakehouse
- Knowledge of alternative asset management industry trends and regulatory requirements

Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Advanced degree (MBA, MS, etc.) preferred
Base Salary Range
$250,000-$275,000
In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
