Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant

Position Summary: Performs phlebotomy, specimen processing, and laboratory support functions under the supervision of licensed laboratory personnel.

Essential Duties:

  • Verify patient identification by matching information on request forms and specimen containers
  • Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens
  • Prepare and process specimens using prescribed techniques, including adding fixatives/preservatives
  • Process specimens for reference laboratory testing, including primary inoculations and slide/plate preparation
  • Operate semi-automated and fully automated laboratory equipment under supervision
  • Maintain specimen records and file laboratory test results
  • Assist with quality control, quality assurance, and quality improvement data collection
  • Replenish supplies and maintain laboratory glassware
  • Adhere to all current laboratory policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $ $27.66 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Hospital Laboratory: 1 year (Preferred)
  • hospital laboratory clinical or reference: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • ooooooooooooooooo (Preferred)
  • CURRENT CPR CARD (Preferred)
  • State Of California -Blood withdrawal certification (Preferred)
  • Current Los Angeles County Fire Card, or within 90 (Preferred)
