PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Oversees Neurodiagnostic technical staff, and or Sleep Center support and technical staff. Manages daily operations under the supervision of the department manager. Performs the most advanced level of Neurodiagnostic, and or Sleep diagnostic procedures to ensure optimal provision of services.

Experience

  • Must have ten (10) years of advanced Neurophysiology or Sleep Diagnostic experience - to include- - Must have two (2) years of supervisory experience.

  • None

Certification/Registration/Licensure

  • Must be registered by American Society of Electrodiagnostic Technologist (AAET) as a Registered Electrodiagnostic Technologist (REDT) - OR
  • Must be registered by the American Board of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist (ABRET) as a Registered EEG Technologist (REEGT) - OR
  • Must be registered by ABRET as a Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (REPT) - OR
  • Must be certified in Neurophysiological Intra-Operative Monitoring (CNIM) - OR
  • Must be registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) - OR
  • Must be registered by The American Board of Sleep Medicine (RST) - OR
  • Must be RRT/CRT by The National Board for Respiratory Care with Sleep Disorders Specialist Certification (RRT-SDS or CRT-SDS) - OR
  • Must have Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Clinical Sleep Health Educator (CCSH).

Must Have a Current Healthcare Provider BLS For Healthcare Providers Certification Before Date Of Hire And/or Placement In Job From One Of The Following

  • American Heart Association
  • American Red Cross
  • Military Training Network

Current incumbents in the role as of 8/1/2023 must obtain a health care provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification no later than 11/30/2023.

Skills Or Special Abilities

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide supervision and leadership to direct reports
  • Must be able to perform routine and advanced Neurodiagnostic, and or Sleep Diagnostic procedures independently following established department procedures.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an expert knowledge regarding advanced neurophysiology techniques or sleep diagnostic procedures.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately in all patient-related situations.
  • Must be able to work with physicians on assessing new techniques and recommending changes as indicated.
  • Must be able to work with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Must have good communication skills necessary in handling difficult and severely ill patients.
  • Must be able to effectively handle stressful situations.
  • Follows established infection control guidelines
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all colleagues, patients and patients family members
  • Assist with the development of department Policy & Procedure
  • Perform daily supervision of technical and clinic staff
  • Assist management with department budget applications
  • Assist with identifying department needed supplies
  • Assist management with oversight of safety and regulatory guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities and that all service areas are staffed per staffing guidelines. Ensures that assigned employees receive opportunities to further their knowledge.
  • Evaluates equipment and supplies to ensure cost effectiveness and that the department needs are met. Makes recommendations as needed.
  • Assists with monitoring annual budgets to ensure the Neurophysiology department has the necessary funds to carry out the goals and objectives that have been established for the department.
  • Independently performs routine, complex, and advanced Neurodiagnostic procedures including EEGs, evoked potentials, intra-operative monitoring, nerve conduction studies, and /or polysomnograms to ensure accurate diagnostic tools for physicians.
  • Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, work processes, work flows, etc. for the Neurophysiology area and implements appropriate changes to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the overall goals of the department and PHHS.
  • Trains staff in department specific educational requirements including infection control and hazardous materials.
  • Maintains positive working relationship with staff and physicians to ensure high moral and work satisfaction. Maintains high level of customer satisfaction by responding to patient requests for assistance, information and needs.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of Neurophysiology by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and maintaining certification. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • Coordinates quality management projects to ensure patient satisfaction and high technical standards.
  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
