Advanced Planning Managing Attorney – Trusts & Estates

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, a well-established law firm is seeking a talented and experienced Advanced Planning Attorney to lead and expand its thriving Trusts & Estates practice. This opportunity is ideal for a highly motivated and detail-oriented attorney who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is looking for a dynamic leadership role. The selected individual will be responsible for leading a team of attorneys, helping to grow the firm's advanced planning practice, and delivering exceptional estate planning services to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of attorneys within the advanced planning practice.
  • Draft and implement sophisticated estate planning documents, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and beneficiary designations.
  • Advise clients on complex tax planning strategies to minimize estate tax liability and optimize wealth transfer.
  • Develop and implement succession plans for family businesses and business owners.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, accountants, and other professional advisors to ensure seamless estate planning solutions.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and stay current on evolving tax and estate planning laws.
  • Present educational seminars or workshops on relevant estate planning topics as needed.
  • Oversee a client caseload efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Deliver tailored estate and wealth transfer strategies for high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Guide clients on philanthropic planning, charitable trusts, and family foundations.
  • Coordinate with family offices and multi-generational family structures for holistic planning.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in advanced estate planning and trust law.
  • Demonstrated success in serving high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners.
  • Leadership experience with an ability to inspire and guide other attorneys.
  • Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation required
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
  • Strategic background in corporate planning, succession planning, and working with family offices is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, work ethic, and collaborative spirit.
  • Book of business (preferred but not required).
