TITLE OF VACANCY: Itinerant Physical Therapist – .3 FTE

POSITION TYPE: Professional

ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT: The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (WVSDB)

LOCATION: Romney, West Virginia

Provide student specific physical therapy evaluations, assessments and consultations as required by IEP guidelines for services 1.5 days (11.5 hours) per week as scheduled by immediate supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Adheres to WVBE Policy 5902 – "Employee Code of Conduct" and the applicable WVSDB personnel policies for employee performance.
• Ensures appropriate supervision of students.
• Conducts student-specific evaluations, assessments, consultations.
• Consults with students, families, school staff members, and other service providers to develop recommendations for treatment programs and techniques, interpret evaluation results, and/or coordinate the provision of treatment.
• Develops, plan, lead, and/or participate in educational training and outreach activities to include program development and presentation of lectures and/or workshops.
• Works with a multidisciplinary team.
• Assists in the development and implementation of special programs.
• Gathers, stores, and monitors dates related to student progress for use in assessing progress toward individualized education program goals and objectives.
• Communicates effectively with students, parents, educational personnel, and others.
• Follows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, and staff members.
• Demonstrates behavior which reflects established professional responsibilities.
• Maintains records and submits monthly reports for Medicaid eligible services.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Holds a valid West Virginia license to practice Physical Therapy.
• Criminal background check conducted pursuant to W. Va. Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10, as appropriate.
• Possess a valid driver's license and be available for statewide travel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. COMPENSATION:

Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with WVSDB Professional Salary Schedule, and Supplemental Pay commensurate with experience and education level, 60-day annual contract (.3 FTE – 1.5 days per week) pro-rated if hired after the start of the school term. Additional compensation is available for ASL skill level as detailed in the WVSDB Communication Policy.
