Field Service Engineer - Northwestern

Schedule:

Full Time: Remote, salaried position with travel

Position Summary:

The Field Service Engineer role requires a motivated, self-starter who is able to work remotely with minimal supervision. You will spend a majority of your time at customer locations, with travel up to 5 days per week with more extensive travel on an as-needed basis. Build/ maintain relationships as a customer facing member of the team while supporting service activities at customer facilities. You will provide maintenance, repairs, upgrades, installations, and training on analytical and metallographic instrumentation in our Midwest Region. Primary service area comprised of one or more of the following states: Oregon, Washington, and Idaho with travel to surrounding regions on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate will reside near Portland, OR.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform analytical instrumentation installations, and train on theory, operation, software, and good maintenance practices
  • Perform preventive/general maintenance
  • Perform breakdown/repair services
  • Perform hardware/software updates and upgrade kit installations
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, expense reports, and vehicle logs
  • Attend instrumentation training at LECO Corporation in St. Joseph, Michigan for a period of 3-5 months
  • Complete field service training by working alongside experienced Field Service Engineers throughout the country
  • Attend annual service training at LECO Corporation in St. Joseph, Michigan

Position Requirements:

  • Reside within primary coverage area of the position
  • Ability to travel weekly with up to four overnight stays depending on workload
  • Ability to attend 3-5 months of training in St. Joseph, MI
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to crouch, stand, and lift without restriction
  • Self-motivated, having the accountability to work remotely with limited supervision
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Pass a background check and substance abuse screenings
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without restriction
  • Should have a personal credit card, or the ability to obtain one
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Previous experience with AC and DC electronics, or the ability to learn
  • Chemistry background is advantageous, but not required

Education/Certifications:

One or more of the following:

  • Two Year Technical Degree
  • Trade School
  • Prior Military with Training in a Technical Field
  • Equivalent Work Experience or Training in a Technical Field
