Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant General Manager to join our dynamic team in a high-standard, hospitality-driven, food service environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional hospitality. This role involves assisting in the overall management of the restaurant, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a positive work culture.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in daily operations.
  • Manage front-of-house and back-of-house staff, providing training and development to ensure high performance.
  • Oversee cash handling procedures and maintain accurate financial records using Toast POS system.
  • Ensure compliance with alcohol safety regulations and standards, promoting safe alcohol serving practices among staff.
  • Supervise shift management, ensuring efficient service during peak hours in both fine dining and casual dining settings.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop budgets and monitor financial performance.
  • Conduct interviews and assist in hiring processes for new staff members.
  • Foster a positive dining experience by maintaining high standards of customer service and hospitality.
  • Coordinate with kitchen management to ensure quality food production and timely service delivery.
  • Engage in team management activities to build morale and enhance employee retention.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in restaurant management or as an Assistant Manager within the food industry.
  • Strong background in food service management, including fine dining or elevated casual dining.
  • Experience with inventory control, budgeting, and cash handling procedures is essential.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to train and develop staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of culinary practices, food production techniques, and catering services is a plus.
  • Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha or Micros is preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
