Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Travel Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide exceptional patient care across various healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical experience, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and specialized areas such as hospice, infectious disease, and pediatrics. This position offers the opportunity to work in diverse environments such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, long-term care facilities, and home health settings. The Travel LPN will be responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing services while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards and ensuring patient safety. Candidates must be proficient in EMR/EHR systems, medical documentation, and possess strong assessment skills.

Duties

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
  • Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols.
  • Assist with invasive procedures such as IV insertions, catheterizations, venipuncture, and sterile dressing changes.
  • Manage airway and ventilator support for patients requiring respiratory assistance.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations including specimen collection/processing and medical imaging coordination.
  • Provide specialized care in areas such as Alzheimer's/dementia care, memory care, pain management, hospice support, and acute/critical care.
  • Document all patient interactions thoroughly using EMR/EHR systems like Cerner, Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop discharge plans and coordinate post-acute or home & community care.
  • Ensure infection control practices are strictly followed to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Educate patients and families on health coaching, medication administration, nutrition, and disease management strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure confidentiality of patient records.

Experience

  • Proven experience in diverse clinical settings including ICU, Emergency Room, Level I & II Trauma Centers, Neonatal ICU (NICU), Pediatric units, Post-Acute Care facilities, or Home Care environments.
  • Extensive background in specialized nursing fields such as infectious disease care, cardiology (including cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology, dermatology (dermal fillers), occupational health, and surgical procedures like suturing or gastric lavage.
  • Familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding systems for accurate documentation and billing purposes.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations including children with developmental disabilities or neonatal patients requiring ventilator support.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to primary care, specialty clinics (e.g., nephrology for dialysis), behavioral health settings, or family planning clinics.
  • Ability to perform advanced procedures such as spinal taps or botulinum toxin treatments is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support diagnostic evaluation and patient assessment across various age groups from toddlers to seniors. This position requires candidates who are adaptable across multiple healthcare environments with a focus on delivering high-quality patient-centered care while adhering to safety standards and clinical protocols.
