Valerie Health is an AI front office for independent provider groups. We are reimagining how independent practices operate, by using AI to modernize patient and provider communication interfaces, provide better care, and drive operational efficiencies.
We're led by founders with deep healthcare and tech experience: Pete Shalek, a repeat founder and operator with two health tech exits (including a $600M acquisition by Optum), and Nitin Joshi, who has built and scaled several 0–1 and 1–100 businesses, including Uber Eats, Uber Health, Stripe Connect, and Bridge ($1.1B acquisition by Stripe).
We're scaling rapidly, automating tens of thousands of tasks each week less than a year post-launch, and growing 50%+ month-over-month. We're backed by General Catalyst, Primary Ventures, BoxGroup, and leading angels, including the founders of One Medical and Oscar.

About the RoleWe're looking for a thoughtful, strategic, and hands-on Founding Recruiter to own and evolve our hiring function, with an emphasis on technical recruiting. While the role will be primarily focused on software engineering hiring, this hire will also own hiring for high priority non-technical roles that are critical to business needs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, early-stage environments, loves building processes from the ground up, and is excited to work cross-functionally to help us scale thoughtfully.
Own end-to-end recruiting across engineering and other key roles including sourcing, screening, designing interview plans, scheduling, and managing candidates
Build relationships with hiring managers and develop recruiting strategies to hire the best talent for the role in a structured and objective manner
Develop and promote our top of funnel strategies across sourcing, employer brand, and referrals to help us attract the best talent
Maintain and analyze recruiting related data in our ATS, Ashby, and report out on hiring progress
Deliver a best in class candidate experience
Experience
3-8 years of experience in recruiting with at least 2+ years of experience in an early stage, start-up environment
Strong experience specifically in sourcing and hiring high caliber technical talent, including senior hires
Familiarity with using an ATS (Applicant Tracking System), Ashby preferred
Strong understanding of recruiting data and reporting
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work independently
Experience hiring non-technical roles is a nice to have

Recruiting Skill Set. Proven ability to deliver on full-cycle recruiting for software engineers and other technical hires with an emphasis on outbound sourcing, candidate experience, and high-caliber talent. Is eager to also take on high-priority non-technical roles.
Talent Bar. Has experience hiring in an environment of talent density and has enabled processes that prioritizes quality over quantity.
Communication. Expresses themselves clearly and succinctly, able to adjust communication style to different hiring managers and candidates, can convey complex topics and sell candidates on the opportunity.
Stakeholder Management. Able to work with a wide variety of hiring managers and knows how to present metrics and data in a way to effectively get buy in.
Collaboration. Prioritizes building relationships, both with candidates and hiring managers, to achieve the best possible outcomes. Takes ownership and follows through, willing to help others even outside their scope.
Initiative. Self-starter who takes the opportunity to act when they see a need.
Learning & Growth. Actively seeks to learn and apply new approaches or perspectives, encourages new ways of doing things, and actively seeks to improve their skill set.
