The Instrumental (Violin) Music Teacher will be responsible for the general supervision and

management of the violin program for students in kindergarten through grade five. This person must be professionally prepared to teach the violin to young children. Additionally, the teacher agrees to uphold the high expectations and standards of the school.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plans, supervises, and implements the music program in accordance with McGill School policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and assesses student performance.
  • Maintains close communication with principal and teachers regarding student issues.
  • Establishes a non-punitive method of seeking positive rather than negative methods to correct student behavior.
  • Teaches basic elements of music, including the great composers

Competencies:

Punctual, reliable, cooperative, and flexible

Builds strong interpersonal relationships and is alert to needs of others

Skills/Knowledge/Education:

  • Valid California Single Subject Music Teaching Credential with proper authorizations and English Learner Authorization (or equivalent).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (Spanish highly desired)

  • We are looking for an experienced individual (minimum three years) who enjoys working with

students.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires a high level of energy with the ability to move quickly from one place to another to ensure safety. Must be able to bend, stoop, and perform extensive walking. Can lift up to 30 pounds and is able to work indoors and outdoors. Must be able to supervise students by sight and sound.
