About Us:

Wild Child San Diego Nature School is a play-based, outdoor learning community that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and connection with nature. Founded just three years ago, we've grown from 5 children and 3 teachers to over 50 children and 8 teachers, offering an environment that blends exploration, care, and community.

We're now seeking a German Language Teacher to bring the beauty of the German language and culture to our preschool-2nd grade age students (ages 4-7) through joyful, play-based learning.

Position Overview:

The German Language Teacher will lead one-hour daily sessions, Monday through Friday, introducing children to beginner German through stories, songs, movement, and games. The focus is on creating a fun, engaging, and immersive environment where children learn naturally through play and rhythm.

You'll also have the opportunity to coach our current teaching team in simple, beginner-level German phrases and songs they can incorporate into daily routines — helping the language come alive throughout the day.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead 30min German language sessions for children (ages 4-7) in both East County & West County groups

  • Introduce beginner German vocabulary through play, song, stories, and movement

  • Use hands-on materials, manipulatives, and games to keep lessons engaging

  • Plan age-appropriate activities

  • Coach current Wild Child teachers in basic German words and songs for classroom use

  • Communicate with staff about class themes and progress

  • Care for and respect children's social-emotional needs in a nature-based setting


•Lead cultural integration & opportunities including holiday celebrations, sharing German traditions, and providing creative ways to involve German community into the program

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (in Education, Child Development, German Language, or related field)

  • At least 1 year of experience teaching German to children ages 4–8 (required)

  • Native or fluent German speaker with clear pronunciation

  • Passion for play-based and outdoor education

  • Creative, flexible, and enthusiastic about learning through movement and nature

  • Comfortable working in an outdoor classroom environment rain or shine

Compensation & Support:

  • $30/hr

  • Teaching materials stipend provided for German books, music, and classroom supplies

  • Additional paid time for coaching sessions with staff

  • Opportunities for long-term collaboration as our language enrichment program grows or for more hours if a position opens as a full day teacher
