Southern Paws Pet Sitting is a highly-rated, local business committed to the health and happiness of pets. We are currently seeking energetic, reliable individuals to handle our daily dog walking routes and essential cat care visits. This is a year-round, part-time position perfect for someone passionate about animal welfare and ready for an active, outdoor role.

Pay & Flexible Hours

This role offers reliable, flexible income with competitive compensation.

  • Hourly Pay: $15.00 to $17.00 per hour (Rate based on experience and duties)
  • Job Type: Part-time, with flexible scheduling based on your availability.
  • Target Shifts: We are primarily hiring for the following daily windows:
  • Morning Route: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Midday Route: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Responsibilities:

As a Daily Dog Walker/Pet Sitter, you are the crucial link between pets and their human parents. Your primary focus is active, safe, and professional care during every visit (which range from 15 to 60 minutes).

  • Active Walking: Safely walk dogs of various sizes and breeds, ensuring proper hydration and exercise.
  • Behavioral Monitoring: Observe pet behavior and health status, and report any anomalies immediately to owners.
  • Pet Management: Confidently handle single or multiple dogs simultaneously, maintaining security and control.
  • Training Reinforcement: Use basic commands during walks to reinforce good manners and obedience.
  • In-Home Care: Provide necessary care for cats and other small pets during required sitting duties.
  • Communication: Maintain professional and clear communication with pet owners (a key aspect of customer service).

Essential Requirements & Qualifications

We are seeking applicants with demonstrable skills and the right tools for the job.

  • Required Tool: A dependable, insured, and pet-friendly vehicle is essential for traveling to client homes.
  • Experience Preferred: Prior experience in dog handling, walking, or basic training is highly valued.
  • Commitment to Animals: Must be at least 18 years old and possess a genuine, sincere love for both dogs and cats.
  • Outdoor Readiness: Must be comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather conditions year-round.
  • Customer Focus: Strong communication and customer service skills for effective client relations.
