Ob Responsibilities
- Serve as Throwing Coach for the Track & Field Program.
- Develop and train student-athletes to compete in track & field throwing events.
- Motivate, mentor, and have a passion for developing student-athletes on and off the Track.
- Develop an effective training program.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
- Instruct and guide student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishments, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
- Foster teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Cooperate, in a timely manner, with School Athletic Director and the District Athletic Department in regard to requests for pertinent information that might be required periodically.
- Meet all the requirements mandated by the District Board of Education, The Ohio High School Athletic Assn. (OHSAA) and the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to mandated coaching requirements (Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification and Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
- Follow the District Athletic Department Policies as outlined in the Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria as outlined in the job description.
- Model the behavior expected of student-athletes including timeliness to practices and games, being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
- Maintain a suitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
- Recognize the need to be aware of, and implement, all applicable administrative policies set forth by the District Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, ODE, and OHSAA.
- Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season.
- Follow appropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
- Participate in School events (i.e. Pep Assemblies, Awards Night, Athletic Boosters Meeting, etc.
- Ensure that teams are well prepared for opponents.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
- Maintain accurate inventory of equipment and supplies.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Fundraising experience.
- Strong leadership.
- Must be passionate and dedicated to inspire student-athletes.
- Previous throwing experience required.
- Serve as a role model.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills associated with the sport.
Training/Certifications:
- Ohio Secondary Teaching Certificate preferred.
- Evidence of successful past coaching experience required.
- Provide satisfactory result of County Police Records Check, State BCII Check, and a Fingerprint Background Check.
- Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupil Activity Permit (PAP).
- Provide satisfactory proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification.
