Job Overview

We are a small law office located in downtown Bellingham with a focus on Family Law, Estate Planning, Probate, and Guardianship. The position could offer the possibility of some hours being remote in the future, but would initially be onsite.

Anticipate starting out around 24 hours/week, with the possibility of more hours as one became more involved with the office and expanded their skills.

Duties

  • Administrative support: Managing emails; appointments; and phone follow up.
  • Attorney calendar management.
  • Client communication in keeping clients informed of cases and deadlines
  • Correspondence with court and other law offices.
  • New client intake and follow up.
  • Office Organization.
  • Invoices and Billing.
  • Court filing
  • Draft, format, and proofread legal documents (e.g., pleadings, declarations, discovery)
  • Organize and maintain client files, both digital and physical
  • Assist in preparing exhibits and filings for court

Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in document management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Willingness to learn legal processes.
  • Prior legal experience or paralegal coursework is helpful but not required — we are willing to train
  • Must have Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
