POSITION SUMMARY:
The Instructional Supervisor of Support Programs and Services will work under the direction of the Coordinating Supervisor of Support Programs and Services and is responsible for supervising the delivery of support and related services throughout the county.

Salary Range: $123,495 - $186,802

Detailed Description
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Provides overall supervision, coordination, operation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Instructional Specialists in the Office of Support Programs and Services to include Adapted Physical Education, Audiology, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Instructional Special Education Assistants, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech and Language, Vision, Assistive Technology and Dual Language Assessment Team;
- Works closely with the Coordinating Supervisor to identify, establish and facilitate attainment of performance and compliance targets for the Office of Support Programs and Services,
- Monitors and conveys progress on annual targets to the Coordinating Supervisor and Instructional Specialists;?
- Assists with development of grants proposals and implementation of funded projects;
- Participates in various committees as the Department of Special Education representative for Support Programs and Services;
- Attends monthly staff meetings for each division under support Programs and Services;
- Coordinates with the Coordinating Supervisor, Supervises the development of and maintains the office budget for Support Programs and Services for each division?
- Works closely with the Coordinating Supervisor in drafting Requests for Proposals, consultancy agreements and contracts that ensure the acquisition of goods and services necessary for the delivery of professional supports and services to students and departmental staff;
- Assists in the approval process for leave and payroll, in Oracle, for Related Service providers;
- Acts as a liaison with the Human Resources Office to provide support in the recruitment and retention of related services and support programs staff as well as position announcements, receiving applicant calls and forwarding applications;
- Supervises the procurement and maintenance of inventory, and allocating up-to-date equipment, supplies, computers and materials necessary in the delivery of related services and support programs;
- Responds to parents, administration and school staff within Prince George's County Public Schools with regard to issues on related services and support programs;
- Plans and facilitates monthly staff meetings with the instructional specialists;
- Coordinates and assists with the content on the Special Education website related to Support Programs and Related Services
- Coordinates and collaborates with various offices within the Division of Academics to ensure the Office of Support Programs and Services is involved in meeting the strategic plan goals of PGCPS and Department of Special Education;
- Assists with continuous monitoring (monthly, quarterly, yearly) of program and services provided to students;
- Observes and evaluates teachers;
- Acts as a liaison with University Partnerships to recruit interns and qualified applicants to fill related services shortages; and
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- Knowledge of federal and state special education statues, regulations, and special education law;
- Demonstrated leadership and administrative competency;
- Demonstrated experience with federal programs and/or working with schools/teams in strategic planning;
- Considerable knowledge of budgeting and reporting requirements;
- Skilled in assessing needs and increasing the potential of special needs students;
- Demonstrated experience in planning and scheduling caseloads;
- Familiarity with the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process involving evaluation, service delivery and monitoring of instructional and related services;
- Familiarity of administrative methods and strategies to select, modify, or develop responses to meet unexpected or complex federal program conditions; and
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills and effective human relations skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Master?s degree required from an accredited institution in educational administration or from an accredited institution in education or special education (to include related services disciplines) with course work in education administration.? A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory experience, and five (5) years of successful experience as a related service provider.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A valid Maryland State Department of Education Certification/Licensure in a related services discipline such as one of the following:? Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Physical Therapy Licensure; Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Occupational Therapy Licensure; Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene AUD, HAD and Speech-Language Pathologist Licensure; Certification in the area of Adapted Physical Education; Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals or ACVREP).? Advanced Professional Certificate with Administrative I or Principal/Supervisory Certification required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in overseeing and providing guidance to the Instructional Specialists and support staff.
