Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding.
- Assist with medication intake, inventory management, and restocking to ensure pharmacy supplies are maintained efficiently.
- Provide excellent patient service by answering medication-related questions, verifying prescriptions, and supporting patient care initiatives.
- Support critical care and acute care teams by understanding medical terminology and assisting with medication administration protocols.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety standards related to medication handling, storage, and documentation.
- Perform medication reconciliation and document all pharmacy activities meticulously to maintain accurate records.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate seamless medication therapy management for diverse patient populations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy practices and hospital pharmacy operations to support specialized patient needs.
Qualifications
- Prior pharmacy technician experience, preferably within hospital or acute care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacy laws, and aseptic technique essential for sterile compounding.
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and medication administration support is highly desirable.
- Strong patient service orientation with excellent communication skills to assist patients and healthcare providers effectively.
- Familiarity with LTC pharmacy procedures, critical care protocols, and hospital experience is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
- Certification as a pharmacy technician or equivalent credentials are preferred; ongoing education in pharmacy practice is encouraged.
