search Scientist
.
This will be onsite in New York City and will start as a 3 -month contract role with the potential to extend. As a Research Scientist you will be responsible for e xecut ing existing laboratory workflows from planning to data analysis stage.
Responsibilities
- Recognize, document, and escalate protocol deviations to stakeholders
- Ensure equipment and instruments remain in good operating condition, recognize any malfunctions and troubleshoot as needed
- Maintain updated understanding and knowledge of methods performed in the lab
- Provide feedback on the workflows and participate in developing solutions to pinch points, throughput limitations, and data quality
- Work with a team of researchers to extend and interpret advanced analytical methodologies.
- Facilitate interactions with collaborators, both internal and external, to develop efficiencies for cutting edge analytical methods.
- Adapt to unexpected schedule changes and respond to emergency situations, as needed
Qualifications
- Hands-on expertise with cutting edge molecular biology, microbiology and/or biochemistry methods and concepts.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and methodologies that are commonly used in modern laboratory data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully within an entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, with great attention to detail and record keeping.
- Strong verbal and written communication skill
- Knowledge of safety procedures relating to operation of laboratory equipment and handling of chemical and biohazards
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD degree within life sciences (e.g. Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology and Microbiology) and 2-4 years of directly-related commercial experience
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams at the interface of life science and computer science.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and methodologies that are commonly used in modern laboratory data analysis.
- Broad familiarity with different areas of the life sciences.
- Hands-on experience in high-throughput research, incl. operation of liquid handlers.
Pay Range
- Pay range for this position will be $ $ Compensation will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This rate is subject to change.
